Windows 10 End of Life

What It Means and What You Should Do

Windows 10 officially reaches End of Life on 14 October 2025. That means no more updates, no more security patches, and no more support from Microsoft. It’s time to bear down and make a plan.

What does “End of Life” actually mean?

When an operating system reaches End of Life, Microsoft stops providing:

  • Security updates
  • Bug fixes
  • Feature improvements
  • Technical support

In short: your computer will still work, but it will no longer be protected. Over time, this leaves you increasingly vulnerable to viruses, malware, scams and performance issues.

Will my computer suddenly stop working?

No – nothing dramatic happens on the day. Your PC won’t shut down or lock you out. But from that point forward, it becomes less safe to use online, especially for:

  • Online banking
  • Shopping
  • Email
  • Anything involving personal data

Think of it like driving a car that no longer passes its MOT. It still moves, but it’s not safe.

What are my options ?

Your three options (bear with us):

Upgrade to Windows 11

If your device supports it, this is the smoothest path forward. It’s faster, safer, and more modern - like trading in your old honey pot for a smart jar.

Replace your device

If your laptop’s too old or slow, upgrading might not be worth it. A new device will be faster, safer, and ready for the future.

Keep Using Windows 10

You can, but it’s risky. It’s like using a leaky tent in bear country - technically possible, but not wise.
